About Me

My name is Jacquie. I’m in my 30s, and have had Type 1 diabetes since I was 12. I use a MiniMed Revel and a Dexcom CGM to stay alive and stuff.

I’m married with a dog and a cat and a baby girl.

Glad to see another lifer like myself with the love of a good barley sandwich. If we ever meet up in person, we’ll have to compare tasting notes on our fav brew (we have some great microbreweries here in la belle province … aka Quebec).

OK, I know what a PWD is, but what’s an NBD?

Loved your blog on sixuntilme recently. Describes me pretty well too. I’m the same as you above except I don’t drink beer and don’t have any pets and can’t make myself blog right now. (I was dx’d at age 12.) Great blog! Thanks for writing.

I love your blog! Congrats on the baby news – the universe does work in wonderful and amusing ways! I’m putting together an eBook to do with Diabetes and wondered if you would contribute? Please drop me an email and I can tell you more about it! Thanks

  14. Great blog! I am T1 since 12 years old too! A “soon-to-be” married and love red wine! 🙂

Hi, I have been reading your blog for about 8 months and love your sense of humor and honest responses to a lot of my the PWD issues ( eg the 24hr urine collection, the non-diabetic ‘judgers’. It makes me feel less along and that someone tryly understands all the associated crap, both mental and physical, that a PWD has to deal with. Reading your post about finding out you are pregnant totally hits home, as I also was surprised by the fact I got pregnant. At 37, diabetic for 26 years, and not under the best control, I figured it just wouldn’t happen for me. If you want to chat off line about any of your questions/feelings/fears of what is ‘safe’ to eat/do ( i have had a few Cadbury Creme Eggs, which I imagine aren’t on my diet plan!) drop me a line. I am 5 mos as of this week, and they keep telling me everything is going fine. REALLY?! I just keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

My name is kate and I am type 1 diagnosed about 4 years ago (29 years old now). I live in Chicago and have been trying to figure out how to get in touch with other type 1s. Do you happen to live in the area? I ask because I found a reference to your blog from another type 1s blog who lived in Chicago (young and type 1). I searched all over her blog but could not find out how to contact her though!
Anyway, I was hoping you might know of any groups? Any tips for finding a group to meet up with would be helpful.

I am a type one as of 1 year, I love your blog. I am happy for you also!

Hi! I’m mother of 5 years old girl. She was diagnosed about 2 years ago. We live in Poland. I’ve found your blog and I’m happy to read about you. It’s calms me down when I read how you can deal with type 1. I try to make my daughter’s life as simple as possible, that there will be no differences of children without type 1. I have many concerns about her life in the future that’s why the blogs such as yours give me a hope. Thanks for that 🙂
